Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th graders are full of energy, and most of all eager to learn. Our school is an inner city school with 97% of the population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. These kids come to school excited and ready to give it their all.

Many are English learners working hard to reach their English goals to reclassify and be proficient in English with little support at home.

My students enjoy spending time at school many times because school is the one places they feel safe and taken care of. They come ready to tackle any academic challenge they come across. It is a great experience as a teacher to see how they take ownership of their learning throughout the year.

My Project

Learning from home might sound like a dream come true, but the reality is, it's a lot more difficult. In a regular school setting teachers move around and remain animated, which helps the students stay focus. This becomes difficult to do when teaching into a computer. The stand up desk will help both my students and me feel a bit closer and for a moment transport us back to the classroom.

As teachers, we are used to performing for our kids to make our lessons come to life, this is a struggle during remote learning.

With both the mouse and the stand up desk, it will allow me to move about without interrupting the flow of the lesson and engage my students attention. I won't need to just sit in front of the computer, but instead it will make remote learning a bit more fun.
