Standing Up for Learning

Help me give my students standing desks that can roll around to change up how they work in class along with reusable notebooks to complete group work with.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and energetic. Almost all of them come from Spanish-speaking households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. They love to learn about social studies because most of the places we learn about they will sadly not be able to see in real life.

My students come from poverty and rough neighborhoods so school is one of the few places they get to experience things like technology, being part of a team, or even being creative.

They love to create and use technology. Many of them do not have access to computers or TVs so anytime I can use technology they love it. This also prepares them to succeed in a technological age.

My Project

My students have had a rough few years. Their entire middle school career has been change by COVID and yet they still show up to school everyday ready to learn. Unfortunately this readiness does not last all day. Many of my students need help focusing as the day goes on.

These standing desks will allow me to help certain students who want to keep working but do not want to be sitting in a traditional desk.

Rather they could be standing up and even moving around the room while working to keep them focused. Other teachers have done the same and my students have been begging me to get some standing desks.

Along with these desks, the reusable notebooks will allow students to work in groups better and increase the engagement in those assignments. Coupled together these items will greatly help the atmosphere in class and give these kids more to look forward too when coming to school.
