This year, we moved from to a new form of technology in our classroom, a SmartBoard! One of the amazing things about this new form of technology is that I can teach from anywhere in my room, because the SmartBoard can move. However, wherever I choose to use this form of technology is also the place where I model student work and directions under my document camera. When given this new piece of technology, I was not given a piece of furniture that could properly post my document camera, and give me the ability to both teach, support my students, and model the work.
The standing and movable desk, I will now be able to teach from anywhere in my room and happy ability to support my students better.
A standing desk that moves will give me the teaching opportunity to not once be able to observe my students while they are completing their work, but move my teaching station to accommodate a variety of lessons in different spaces in my room. It will allow me to utilize different teaching areas around the room because my teaching station would be mobile. The standing aspect is also supports my ability to easily walk around supporting students during my lesson using proximity. I can pop over to students that need support and easily move back to my standing teaching station.
Overall, this mobile standing desk will increase my ability to support students during instructional time while teaching from a variety of areas within my classroom.
