My Students

Sitting still is difficult, even for high school students. They get fidgety after sitting for hour after hour.

I teach juniors and seniors at a very diverse high school.

Some of my students are honors students taking courses to earn both high school and college credit. In fact, many of the seniors are graduating with nine college English credits! In addition to those high-performing teens, I also teach other juniors who are struggling to earn credits and some who have thought about dropping out of school.

My Project

These stand-up workstations that I have requested are sure to be popular with my students. We currently have two in the school's library media center, and they are always the first ones taken by my students. I would like two in my classroom so students can stand while listening to instruction and taking notes. Students can also use them as work areas when using laptops.

Sitting in class after class, hour after hour, can cause students (even advanced high school students) to build up energy.

These stand-up workstations will serve two purposes. They will allow high-energy students to move around during the instruction. They will also be used to encourage students to live a healthy lifestyle. There are many activities, including using a computer, that can be done from a standing position.
