My Project

Our goal is to get our math students working collaboratively in groups to solve math problems. We challenge our students to work at vertical surfaces and work together as critical thinkers to solve math problems. Instead of mimicking notes from the teacher, students take an active role in their learning.

Working at whiteboards gets students out of their seats and thinking in math.

Students are engaged during work time and help come up with methods to solve problems. They are critical thinkers, solutionists and collaborators. Students are now thinking in math class daily and ask for whiteboard work/group work on a daily basis.

These supplies will help our math classrooms continue to be able to support standing whiteboard group work. Students need dry erase markers and erasers to be able to show their thinking as they work through problems. We go through markers quickly with all of our math classes using this approach on a weekly basis.
