This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are musically gifted starting at an early age. They come in the door eager to sing, dance, move and play instruments each day and are constantly looking for opportunities to create music. They eagerly come to the music room before school and during their recess time for extra practice. Our students live in a high poverty area and face many daily challenges.
However, students have found a positive outlet for expressing themselves and gaining self confidence through music performance.
By donating to this project, students will be able to use the rolling carts to safely move the xylophones and metallophones around the music room during transitions as well as help to move the instruments to the cafeteria for performances. Giving children ownership and responsibility for the instruments strengthens my students as they learn to become responsible, helpful, productive citizens.
