My Project

Digital technology, reduced physical activity and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle have all contributed towards diminishing the cognitive abilities of today's student learners. According to JustStand.org one way to combat this is with standing desks in the classroom. According to the article Stand-based versus Seated Classrooms and Childhood Obesity in the American Journal of Public Health a standing desk lowers the risk of obesity and weight gain -- a new phenomena in American children. Movement is to co key to combatting this. Furthermore the standing desk in my classroom will offer my students an option to improve classroom engagement and naturally fight the symptoms of ADHD.
