Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 12 students in a 12:1:1 special Education class. Despite all of the challenges my students already face like living in low income housing and accessibility to resources, these students are excited about what they can do and learn.

My students are curious about the world around them; they love to share what they've learned with each other, and encourage and help each other when things become difficult for them to understand.

Each child in my classroom learns in different ways and having the right tools to support them is essential in their day to day learning.

My Project

The tools requested (standup desks and bands) will have a strong impact on my students' ability to focus and complete tasks successfully. It will provide choices they can independently make to improve their learning. Having the option of how to complete a task is empowering to my whole classroom.

These tools promote self awareness and problem solving.

For example, students that notice they are experiencing extra energy can request a band or a standup desk to help with that. Lastly, having the standup desks provide the opportunity for students to move around after sitting all day.
