My Project

All of my middle school math students want my affirmation that their math thinking and problem solving tasks are on the correct path to a successful answer. A standing teacher desk would allow me the flexibility to meet students at their level. It would also open up space in my room, so I can help more students at the same time. Students can collaborate with each other while seeking my guidance and assurance their answers are correct.

My special education and ELL students will especially benefit from a standing teacher desk.

Tending to be quieter and more hesitant to ask individual questions, this will offer them a safe spot to ask questions and seek help when I am at their level. This standing desk will be a safe spot not only for math thinking but a place for me to continue to build positive student interactions.

I have designed my middle school math classroom to center on my students' needs. We have vertical boards to support the inquiry process and tables to collaborate. There are individual desks in case a student wants their own space. I even have carpet squares and clipboards for students who work best sitting on the floor! This standing desk would be one more flexible learning station to meet the needs of all my mathematicians. Thank you for supporting all students as they grow math skills for the future!
