My Students

Sitting in a desk for six hours is very challenging and then asking students to stay focused and do work on top of that is even harder. It is important to have many different options within the classroom for students to complete their work. We have rugs and benches but a standing desk would be great

The students within my classroom come from many social and economical circles.

We are an inner city school with very limited resources for the classroom and students. They have different learning styles and needs throughout the day. Providing options for my students allows them to produce quality work and work to their full potential.

My Project

We need a standing desk to give my students a different option of somewhere to go to complete their work. I try to make my classroom user friendly and allow the students to work around the room. They can work at tables, desks, on the rug or on home-made benches. Having a standing desk will provide one more option for the unconventional student in the classroom. This standing desk will give students an opportunity to stretch their legs and still continue their work. This desk will allow them to work without disturbing students around them by standing up at their own desk and blocking the view of others.

If this project improves the concentration of my students it will improve their test scores and reduce the interruptions within the classroom.

Giving the students the option of a standing desk will help with sensory issues. It will also give my students with an Individualized Learning Plan another resource to utilize within the classroom.
