My Students

Our school is a small school nestled along the coast of Maine. We are a close knit school with a high free and reduced lunch population. Year to year our budgets remain the same, but the needs and costs of materials are rising. Our students and teachers deserve to have the materials that they all need to ensure that the learning that is happening is beneficial for both the students as well as the teachers.

My students are very hands on and they thrive from being interactive learners.

The more hands on materials that we have the better! I am hoping to add more materials to my classroom as each new year begins. The looks on the students faces as new materials are introduced are priceless.

I always look forward to being able to add that next beneficial tool to the classroom that might help a student learn in a way that wasn't possible before. Their smiles and gains make it all worth it.

My Project

I have seen standing desks make a huge difference in the ability to help students sustain attention while they are being instructed and/or while they are working on a story or completing a project. As of now, we only have tables for the students to sit at. We, as educators, know that our students need to be able to move. We, as educators, know that our students have many different needs, and adapting their seating to suit their needs is one way to make that happen.

I look forward to seeing the smiles on my students faces when they see that there is another seating option when their bodies need movement.

This is just the beginning of alternate seating within our classroom!
