My Project

Music is a powerful tool in shaping a student's learning. Through music, our students are able to express themselves in a new way, learn new skills, and collaborate with others to reach a common goal. Not only do students learn skills that apply to their music class, but ones that are transferable to other academic areas and life. Being involved in music strengthens a student's ability to read, write, problem solve, and develop accountability- just to name a few.

This year, our 3rd-8th grade students have been learning how to read music on the treble clef staff.

Reading music is an important skill to develop in order to play any instrument. In our 3rd and 4th grade curriculum, students apply their music reading skills on the recorders. In 5th-8th grade, students apply their music reading skills on the xylophones, Boomwhackers, ukuleles, and guitars.

I would love to provide music stands for my students in order to make their learning experience better. Having your own music stand creates a sense of organization and ownership for a developing musician. They are able to read and practice without having to put their sheet music on the ground or in a chair. Having the proper tools will help me promote music literacy and get students excited about learning notes on the staff!
