My students need eight stability balls of various sizes to replace their traditional chairs.

My Students
Are you fidgety? Most of my students are, and this greatly affects their learning. My students come to my room to receive small group instruction for reading. I am always looking for tools to help them improve their attention to help them reach grade level expectations by the end of the year.
I am fortunate enough to work with stellar elementary students who are learning to read.
I teach students in grades 1-3 who require reading intervention because they are reading significantly below grade level. Many of them live in a low-income area. Despite their hardships, they come to school ready and willing to learn. They are especially eager to learn to read.
My Project
The eight stability balls will replace the traditional chairs in my classroom. Many of my students have focusing issues and these balls will help them with that. They will be able to engage their body by wiggling or bouncing softly, and consequently engage their minds. Early research has shown that students in previous studies have reported an improvement in their ability to pay attention, concentrate, and engage on the task at hand. I am hoping that with these alternative seating arrangements, my students will be able to focus on learning to read, greatly improving their ability to reach their fullest potential.
These stability balls will help my students focus.
Learning to read is a life-long skill that is ingrained in everything we do. My students have so many obstacles to overcome; if we can help them with even one, they will have a much better chance at succeeding.
