My Students

My students are very cramped sitting at the rectangular table that we work at during their group time. They are unable to see the materials that I am holding up, and I know it makes them pay less attention because they are having difficulty following along. My students would love to have this table.

My students are first grade students that come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Our county is one of the poorest counties in the state and school is sometimes the happiest place for these kids to be. I want them to always have a comfortable environment for them to learn, and I want to make as big of a difference in their lives as possible.

My Project

This table will help my students work comfortably during center time. This will help keep them engaged, and they will be able to follow along easier. They will not be cramped together. Our only other option during center time is to work in the floor, which becomes very uncomfortable quickly.

This project is very important to me because it will make it easier to work with my students during their morning group time, which is their most important time during reading.

Being cramped together at a table is hard for first grade students.
