Mrs. V, can I use the Play-Doh? Can I make an animal, can I make my name, can I use the letter stamps in the Play-Doh? Can I make a building? These are all the things that I hear in my classroom because we love to use Play-Doh! Play-Doh in a Kindergarten classroom is a perfect fit.
When my students are done with their work, they make a "When I Am Done Choice," and the number one choice is - you guessed it - Play-Doh!
There are 19 students in my Kindergarten classroom. My students are very energetic, full of energy, work well in groups, and enjoy learning through hands-on activities. This is why Play-Doh is a must for my classroom. They are very curious about their world around them and they are eager to learn new things while having fun along the way. My students LOVE to create and use their imaginations so Play-Doh is a perfect outlet for them to explore.
My Project
My students can use Play-Doh across our curriculum, when they make a, "When I Am Done Choice," and also during our free-choice time. During free-choice time, my students get to play. Yes! Play!
We play in Kindergarten, and the Play-Doh center is a favorite choice.
My students need Play-Doh, lots of Play-Doh! Our Play-Doh gets used every day, and as a result of 23 eager little hands, doesn't last very long.
Academically, my students can use Play-Doh in our literacy centers to identify letters, learn sight words, and towards the end of the year they can use Play-Doh to build sentences using the stamps. Play-Doh can be used in many different ways in our Math and Science centers too! There are too many ways to use Play-Doh. The list goes on and on! My students can use Play-Doh during the free-choice time to be creative and use their imagination. The many different colors and tools will help fuel their creativity.
As you can see, Play-Doh can be used in many different ways to address the different learning styles of my students. No two students learn the same way, so the addition of Play-Doh in my classroom allows me one more method to teach my students. Please consider donating to my project.
