Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title One school in Corona, Queens. Fifty percent of the population are English Language Learners and twenty-two percent are students with special needs. This year, I have the opportunity to teach third grade general and special education students, many of which I tutored after school last year. I am looking forward to working with them again.
My students have been greatly affected by the pandemic as their community was the epicenter of the virus.
Throughout it all, they have continued to try their best and work hard.
My Project
These materials will help us to keep our classroom clean and ourselves healthy. During this time where we have to be mindful of hand washing and sanitizing our surroundings, these materials are very important. The masks will also be used in case a student needs a spare mask.
During the week, there are three cohorts of students that will be in the classroom on different days.
To maintain social distancing, students will have to use the same desks on their designated days. We will need these cleaning supplies to make sure that the desks are cleaned after each use.
The students will also be eating in the classroom and large trash bags are necessary to ensure that their food is disposed of properly.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
