My Students

I work with an amazingly diverse and talented group of scholars. While they may come to school each day with their own challenges, they persevere through the middle school years, which are not easy for anyone!

As part of my role as AVID Coordinator for my school, I try to find supplies that are donated from colleges or businesses to help our students with their organization needs.

For many, it is as small as having pencils in their binders. For some, they need a binder to keep their things. Our focus is getting the students thinking about long term skills for support their college and career goals.

My Project

While this year isn't over yet, we are always making sure that the students start each year on the right foot! One of the biggest needs for middle schoolers can be organizational tools which can include basic school supplies. Students are hard on their materials, and while they are still growing in their independence, sometimes they just need a pencil with an eraser!

We are trying to get a head start on AVID-based supplies for the Fall.

This will allow us to plan over summer and make sure that when students return next year, our school-wide systems are realistic for all.
