This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Art is a historical record of our humanity! As the art teacher at my school I teach a multi-cultural group of 750 students. In our school we represent 29 different countries, but we are still a family.
Because we are a family that is celebrating their 50th year of helping each other grow together, our students would like to commemorate our anniversary by making their own mosaic.
In order to make our mosaic we require the ceramic clay and glazes to create our design. This project will be a symbol to our students, teachers and staff that we've built a family that abides by our character values and wants to pass along a legacy of caring, responsibility, courage, honesty, self-discipline and respect to future generations of students.
Your donation will make it possible for our students and students-yet-to come to view a daily visual reminder of what a vital, caring community of learners can produce when they work together on a committed project.
