My Students

I am a 1st-grade teacher in a low income/high poverty school district. My students overcome challenges on a daily basis in and outside of the classroom. They work hard each day and do their best to succeed. My classroom is filled with positivity, creativity, and laughter.

My students teach me how to overcome adversity and hardship each day.

They are learning the skills they will need to help them succeed in their educational journey. Together as a classroom family, we teach each other how to be kind, thoughtful, determined, and hardworking individuals. Due to the Covid-19 virus, my classroom is going to look different this year. My students will need extra resources to learn and stay safe.

My Project

These materials will be used for ELA lessons and for independent reading time. These books will be used to create engaging and creative lessons. They will also be used to teach a variety of skills that align with the common core standards. The books chosen will also be used to make meaningful connections and teach important SEL skills.

One of the best things I can do as a teacher is to foster the love of reading.

I want my students to acquire the desire to further their education through independent reading. This is accomplished by having fresh and exciting materials that keep students engaged. Stories that keep students wanting more at the same time as teaching them important comprehension skills.
