Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students this year are special because they are passionate about music. They are independent, curious, and best of all, they inspire me! 5th grade can help set the tone in a student's emotional well-being before they start middle school. Feeling confident and happy, they'll have better coping skills in middle school. Although our low income school does not have a music program, I'd like to introduce them to the guitar!

Students can cope during hardships if they hold on to a sport, hobby or music.

My Project

All students in my class have been introduced to the piano and played basic songs. Having a class guitar will spark further emotional health among my students. A guitar will make students excited about our classroom! Having happy students will help me teach them better. A guitar will help students develop wellness because they'll be aware that they can choose healthy hobbies. I'm hoping as they transition to middle school, they join extracurricular activities or the music band, which will help keep them out of trouble. Further more, I need my students to know they can make healthy choices with activities that will improve their life. Music is a hobby that will help them cope with difficult times and focus on something productive.

Music promotes wellness among my students as they have access to a real instrument and feel good about being introduced to playing it.
