My Project

Hello!

My name is Ms. Gilles.

As a school social worker in a high school, I am committed to integrating and finding the connections between learning and emotions throughout the day. The materials I requested will create opportunities for me to do just that in my own space.

Students will use snacks and blankets as a reinforcement for positive behavior. The cleaning products are used to cleaning up after themselves and learning basic life skills. The other material will be used during SEL time.

I am trying to get specific items, this way my students are conformable and have a fun safe place to spend their time. My goal for this project is for the students to feel that they have a place in the building where they feel seen and heard. What makes my students special is that this program is designed for them to get their credits in a smaller and exhilarating way. There are not many programs on Staten Island for children who have less credits and are a bit over age, this is why this program is special to my heart. We are a small, close knit program trying to make a big difference!
