My Students

I teach in an Arts-based Elementary School in Queens. My students come from ethnically diverse backgrounds and we use the arts to explore different cultures. We pride ourselves on infusing the arts with the common core curriculum and individualized instruction to further enrich our students' education.

This year we are integrating a new program into our curriculum called "Spotlight Artist."

My Project

This year we have integrated a new program into our curriculum called "Spotlight Artist." Each month we focus on a different artist. We read stories about the artist, watch videos about the artist, then we view and discuss the artists most famous work. Each week as we learn about the artist, we create our own versions of their most famous work! So far we have learned about George Seurat and Andy Warhol.

Having a wide range of art materials allows us to be more creative in the artistic representations we create!

Having more resources also allows us to do different types of art to mimic the artists we are learning about!
