My students are our district youngest learning. I am one of the school social worker in a building of about 800 students. They come to school everyday happy and eager to learn something new!
This school year has been an adventure and these kids keep going and succeeding with all of the changes that have been thrown their way.
My Project
These A Little SPOT books will provide children the opportunity to read and immerse themselves into each emotion, skill, or trait presented in one of the 28 different books.
Through storytelling and literature, adults will be able to support children and help them understand and cope with their emotions.
The A Little SPOT books will be available school-wide but maintained and managed by one of the school social workers. Classroom wide lessons can be taught easily by the classroom teacher and/or the school social worker. Targeted lessons will be provided as tier 2 and tier 3 interventions through small groups or individual lessons based on classroom and student needs. The educator guide was created adhering to Common Core standards and CASEL: Effective Social-Emotional Learning Programs.
