Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fourth-grader (Noun) \fȯrth grā-dər\ - Someone who is a mathematician, reader, writer, artist, scientist, dancer, leader, explorer, and friend. - Someone who needs access to technology, high-quality books and an inclusive place to learn.

My fourth graders are curious and they try hard--really hard.

They love to read, write, explore, and find answers to questions. Did you know that they are also bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate? They speak, read, and write in two languages, English and Spanish. That also means that during the school day, they learn in both languages.

My Project

There is something about the world of sports and amazing athletes that my students love. It captivates my students' attention. Children are curious, and non-fiction books (and access to them) open so many possibilities.

When readers are engaged and interested in a topic, reading is FUN.

It makes sense.

The books requested in this project will be used for a series of investigations (yes! even during distance learning) that will take students deeply into the world of sports and its effect on society including women athletes and other minorities.

The best part? We will not only be researching, we will be creating projects that are a call to action - meaning, what we can do to help our world become a better place.

Help me open the world to my students.
