Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are outgoing, full of energy, and motivated to learn new activities and play new sports. They also love challenges that allow them to push themselves and breakout of their comfort zone. Going back to campus after having been cooped up in their homes for a year and half of Distance Learning, many of my students look forward to going outside, breathing fresh air and learning and trying new activities.

Many of my students who are usually shy or not very talkative during their regular classes, breakout of their shells and build up their confidence, make new friends, all while playing team sports and doing team building activities.

Not only does my class help my students learn to live a healthy and active lifestyle, they are also build on their confidence and social skills that will help them be successful in their future goals.

My Project

My students like to learn to play sports and and try new games, but it's hard with the lack of resources. My students are fans of both basketball and soccer, but currently we have very little resources for them to go out and enjoy doing these sports. We currently have very few basketballs and currently 1 soccer ball.

I want to help my students look forward to exercising and living a healthier lifestyle.

From experience most students don't enjoy playing sports, because they lack the basic fundamental skills of these sports. With both the soccer balls and basketballs, I want to create lessons where they learn the skills, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting so they don't feel intimidated and actually enjoy the sport.

Having my students play team sports also gives my reserved and shy students the opportunity to work in their social/communication skills as well as interact with other students that they would regularly not talk with. These are also important skills that my students will need for their future careers and life in general.
