This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our physical education classes, our goal is to move, move, move! We have limited space and limited equipment. I am looking for timing mats for the students to work on while they are waiting their turn in line, or to get in the game. The less they are sitting, the better they will be!

We are a low-income school receiving Title 1 funds.

Approximately 75% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Every year our PE department receives a budget of about $300.00 to share between 5 teachers. Most of our funding will go to replace old or broken equipment. Meaning less money for new equipment. Our students need to be actively engaged and need hands-on equipment. The less standing around they do, the less trouble they can get into! The more active they are, the more they are working their bodies and their BRAINS!

My Project

We have over 40 sport stacking sets of cups. We work on different patterns to work both hemispheres of the brain! The students use these cups to help the different Health and Skill related components of fitness. It gets the students working their bodies and brains without even knowing! Sport stacking works both sides of the brain and will help them concentrate and get them more focused for tests that they will take in other core classes. It also reduces the amount of time spent sitting on the sidelines in games or activities due to lack of space. We have limited space in our building. We have 3 teachers sharing 2 teaching spaces. We have 26 - 32 students per class hour. We strive to keep the kids moving as much as possible.

Again, we get a very small budget each year.

We have very old and used equipment that we sparingly replace with that money. This donation would greatly help us get more technology to help our students work harder and work more. Sport stacking also helps prepare the brain for the core classes like math and language arts! We try to get the students to also work more dependently, and this equipment would tremendously help our cause!
