My Project

My middle school students are hardworking, bright and amazing learners of STEM. They are excited to use problem solving skills and coding while developing their love for computer science. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over one half of our students are from low income families. Our school is an ethnically diverse school in Southwest Las Vegas. My students have a variety of learning styles that are as varied as they are.

Students will be using LEGO's newest robot kit called the Spike Prime to build on Beginning STEM Goal 8.0: To Create Robot models in class.

The Spike Prime has readymade lessons in the Spike Prime app for students to choose and build during class. Students will also develop Goal 9.0 because students will be collaborating in teams which foster creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. Coding has become even more fun. Hands-on experiences such as building robots are key after almost a year being remote. Overall, this device will be beneficial to all of my Robotics 8th graders that come to learn with me throughout the day and after school. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to get this latest technology into the hands of my curious students.
