This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"You don't know where you're going until you know where you've been." The foundations of music laid down hundreds of years ago, are still used today. My students need to learn about those composers that laid the foundations. They also need new materials for performances.

My students are always looking for ways to give back.

They love to perform for the school and their parents. They like to share new things they have learned with other students. However with a low budget at school and a low income area, resources are not abundant. I am running low on new materials for them to perform. And I certainly don't have the money or budget at school to provide books about composers. They also love to be active in class. They don't want to just sit and listen to music. They want to move around and do other activities.

My Project

The bean bag activities will help the students develop gross motor skills, increase their balance, and other skills, while they are having fun with music. The games will help strengthen basic music concepts and reading skills. The students will have opportunities to practice identifying commonly used symbols. Students will learn facts about famous composers with trivia games and identify familiar instruments through bingo games. The songs and recorder pieces will be used for future performances. The composer books will be used for an ongoing project that the students will present to their class. These composer books will teach them all about the beginning foundations of music and the lives they had while creating new compositions. The performances and presentations will help build their confidence.

Your donation to this project will give my students a huge variety of hands-on activities in my classroom.

It will also give them the opportunity to learn about the history of music. They will have many different resources available to them. Your help and support would be greatly appreciated.
