Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

People say that technology is the future. So, I ask myself, how can I bring the future into my classroom? Throughout the school year, my students are introduced to new and different types of technology, and become familiar with using computers, laptops, iPads and more. My students love using their devices in applied learning scenarios, such as creating and coding robots to solve our weekly STEM challenges, and brushing up on their math skills. Because my students come from a low-income community, they often don't have access to these types of devices at home.

A Sphero SPRK+ and Sphero Mini will allow my students to have a new, unique opportunity to practice coding a device to do varied tasks, and integrate their coding lessons with math, social studies, and science.

My students will use their Sphero bots to learn how to program different types of robots, and how we can use robots to do different things for us. In social studies, my students might learn how to program their Sphero to create Egyptian Art. While they study city planning and climate change, my students might create a plan for integrating a Sphero-like robot into the citizens' everyday life, or how they can be used to help us adapt to a changing climate. With your support, there are endless possibilities for how my students might use their Sphero SPRK+.
