My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic and the shift away from in-person learning have had various impacts on students. These include disruption in learning, technology challenges, engagement, and motivation. Students faced disruptions in their regular learning routines, and the sudden shift to remote learning challenged their adaptability and self-regulation skills. Technology presented new challenges as not all students had equal access to technology and the internet, which hindered their ability to participate fully in online learning activities. Also, some students struggled with staying engaged and motivated in virtual learning environments due to a lack of direct interaction with teachers and peers. As we return to the classroom, Sphero robots can help students with these issues.

Sphero robots, programmable robotic devices that can be controlled and coded, can offer several benefits to students in the context of COVID-19 and remote learning.

Sphero robots provide a hands-on and interactive learning experience. Students can physically engage with the robots, enhancing their learning by combining tangible activities with virtual and in-person learning.

Sphero robots can also be used to teach various concepts related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students can learn coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills while having fun with the robots. With the interactive nature of Sphero robots, they can help maintain student engagement and motivation, making learning more enjoyable and effective, even in remote settings. Students can also use Sphero robots to create their own projects, experiment with different coding techniques, and innovate, fostering their creativity and imagination. While not a complete substitute for in-person interaction, Sphero robots can facilitate collaborative learning experiences among students. They can work together virtually to program and control the robots, fostering a sense of connection. Sphero robots can also encourage students to move around and be physically active.
