My Project

Support the Star Blazers Running Club!

I am excited to share the journey of our Star Blazers Running Club, a group of 27 talented 4th and 5th graders, a Title I school where our students face many challenges.

Many of our runners come from very low-income backgrounds, with some living in foster care, shelters, or having experienced the tragic loss of family members due to unforeseen circumstances. As a result, they do not have access to the resources most take for granted—like proper running sneakers.

We’ve been working hard as a team, preparing for our first running meets in the coming months. Some of our students are incredibly fast and show great promise, but unfortunately, many have had to stop running or struggle through pain due to inadequate footwear. Without the proper sneakers, their feet hurt, and their potential is being limited.

Running has the power to open doors of opportunity for our students, allowing them to compete with other kids across the borough and even the tri-state area. It also exposes them to the wide range of possibilities that athletics can offer—whether it's future competitions, scholarships, or simply the confidence that comes from pursuing a passion. The kids are eager, talented, and deserve the opportunity to compete and feel like the athletes they truly are.

I’ve personally purchased a few supplies to get them started, but we urgently need support to ensure that every runner has the right gear. Your donation can help provide these young athletes with the running shoes they need to stay injury-free and reach their full potential.
