My Students

I work with students of all different levels at a wonderful elementary school in NYC. I'm a speech teacher and I get the opportunity to work with students in grades k- 5. One thing I love about my job is that I get to work with students for a few years and really get to see them grow and mature. The great thing about that is that I know what is challenging for them and how to help them apply their skills and build new skills for higher level language tasks as they move through the grades. Space is limited in my school and therefore I have a cart which I bring throughout the building with my materials. I love working with my students, and my cart has challenged me to travel light and be prepared to use what I have prepared and whatever I have with me. I recently went to a professional development workshop in which one of my colleagues presented her work with students on an iPad. She was able to demonstrate how she uses several different apps and programs with her students. I would like to use an iPad to help my students reach their goals!

My Project

There is limited space in my school building. Right now I travel the building with a cart and move around with my speech tools. With the use of an iPad, I can virtually work with students anywhere in the building and have everything I need to help them reach their goals at my fingertips. I want to maximize my therapy sessions with my students while minimizing the space I need. The iPad will help provide fun, innovative sessions while staying current and relevant in today's fast paced world. Please help me take speech on the go and help all my students achieve their goals anywhere they go!
