My Students
Hello! I am a Speech Teacher in a Title I elementary school in a low-income community. For many of my students, speech and language therapy gives them the confidence to access the curriculum by becoming better readers and stronger communicators. My goal for my students is to provide effective speech and language therapy that will help them to become stronger and more confident readers.
Help my students target their speech and language goals while learning to read!
My Project
Research shows that early speech and language delays can lead to later reading and writing deficits. Interactive speech therapy materials will give my students the opportunity to work on improving their reading skills while working on their speech and language goals in an engaging environment.
With your help, speech therapy will be a fun and interactive experience for my students who are learning to read!
I have requested fun and interactive word and sentence building materials for developing the skills to address the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle (phonics), fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. My students love to use all of their senses when learning to read so these materials with interactive manipulatives are the perfect tactile tool to target their speech and language goals! As we return to an in-school learning environment, it is important that the materials can be cleaned with ease for future use. My awesome students will benefit from these materials immensely!
Your generosity and thoughtfulness are much appreciated!
