My Students

Attending a New York City public school, with its lack of monetary resources, can be challenging for a student. My speech therapy students, who are special education students, require special attention and resources that are often not provided to them due to lack of funds.

Our speech therapy students are special education students who are mandated for services.

They attend one of the largest public high schools in NYC and often get lost in the shuffle. Our students have speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, Autism, social anxieties and hearing impairments.

My Project

Before budget cuts our school was able to subscribe to these two monthly magazine subscriptions for our students. Now that we have no additional funds, we are unable to receive them monthly. These magazines include current events and articles that inform our students about everyday world issues on a reading level that is appropriate for them.

Please help us to bring these magazines back to our students.

They enjoy reading them, and using the articles as a conversation starter with their peers during speech, this is sometimes the only social interaction they have all day. Please help us!
