My Project

Hello all! I provide speech & language services to students ages 2-11 with speech and language disabilities in public schools (i.e., dyslexia, expressive/receptive language disorder, Autism, etc.). As educators and therapists, we try our best to provide our kids with the best materials given the resources provided. However, it is often difficult to provide resources to many of my students due to low budget. Many of my students also come from low income households who lack access to necessary resources for effective communication development. My students think of "speech club" as a safe place to talk and further improve their speech and language skills. Many pre-school games such as the ice cream set, hand puppet, nuts and bolts, cake mixing set, and flower gardening set help promote foundational skills in early intervention. These skills include improving their expressive language skills by increasing their verbal utterances from 1-word to 2-word sentences and more! Many students love Pete the Cat. Using a puppet in association with its books builds personal narratives and imagination! Board games such as Sorry, Hi-ho cherry-o, and UNO help improve pragmatic skills by turn-taking with peers and improving peer sportsmanship. The ultimate goal is to bridge the gap in speech and language development and ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically and socially. Any donation is greatly appreciated!
