My Students

I am a preschool through fifth-grade speech-language pathologist at OME. My caseload consists of a special education early childhood classroom of 20 students, two cross-categorical special education classrooms containing 26 students, and several K-5 general education speech and language students.

My students are diverse learners who come from a variety of backgrounds.

We work together in small and whole groups to build the very speech and language skills needed to be successful in school and beyond.

Many of my students have additional needs, such as attention deficit, sensory-based needs, and autism. My hope for my students is that when they leave me, they are able to successfully and confidently communicate with others in and outside of the school environment. With these additional resources, I believe the communication skills of my students will continue to grow.

My Project

This project fulfills multiple needs that my speech and language students have. Materials requested include books, a visual timer, binder materials, laminator, lamination pouches, velcro, and a new game.

Books are vital for student growth and development.

The books selected for my project relate to the new narrative curriculum I will be using with students and social-emotional goals that some of my students have. These books are engaging and target vocabulary, narrative, social skills, and much more.

The binder, dividers, laminator, lamination pouches, and velcro are used to create visuals for special needs students who need picture exchange cards, visual schedules, and visual aids. The binders and dividers provide organization while the laminator and pouches provide durability so that these materials can be used again and again. Velcro allows students to interact with the materials.

The timer is requested to provide students with a visual to relieve anxiety related to time-related tasks, such as session length or testing. Additionally, I have requested a new game to both engage and positively reinforce my students who are working hard on their goals in speech and language.
