My Students

As a preschool teacher in a diverse community, my classroom is populated with many English Language Learners. When these students arrive in the beginning of the year, they have difficulty understanding English and require assistance to help them communicate and express themselves to others.

I am constantly researching innovative ways to better communicate with my students.

I also strive to increase independence and confidence while expanding their language in the classroom. In time, students learn the routines of the classroom and expand their vocabulary through visual aides and modeling from adults.

My Project

My class is asking for printer paper, ink and laminating paper to create various visual aides and projects for our students. These tools are essential for promoting language and teaching English to those who speak it as a second language. Students who are dominant in English will also be able to use these materials to increase interactions with peers and awareness of their environment. They help to expand knowledge and understanding of everyday school and home life.

Without the use of pictures, schedules, task or word cards, that will be used with these proposed materials, students will not have exposure to the many great learning experiences around them.

Once pictures and visual aides are completed, they will be laminated to preserve and protect for further use. They will have these pictures readily available throughout the day, to refer to in need or to use during play with their peers.
