Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a speech and language therapist supporting students with speech and language needs in two schools in the Lower East Side. As I am supporting two schools this school year, I am in need of speech and language resources that can help me better provide support for each of my students’ speech and language needs .

Access to these resources will greatly benefit my students' speech and language as well as social-pragmatic needs for them to become successful in the classroom as well as in communicating with others, be it with peers or adults.

The Scholastic resources help target a variety of literacy skills that target the speech and language therapy goals of most of my students. These resources will help support students this school year as well as future students with speech and language needs in the coming years.

The Edupress resources will provide flexibility of pairing and practicing literacy skills (e.g. identifying the main idea, context clues, inference, etc.) with other activities and games. Research suggests that play helps with language and social skills, and even helps students cope with stress. Having these Edupress resources will allow me to combine fun and literacy practices for students to occasionally enjoy a game with peers while still working on their speech and language goals!

The TPT resources will enable to me to provide specific speech and language resources, designed and created by experienced speech and language pathologists to support students with speech and language needs. The ECHO Vocal Language Program will enable me access to resources that will support students with selective mutism as they work towards their goal of speaking confidently and comfortably with peers and teachers.
