Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are beyond special, not only because they are disabled, they are all obtaining a high school diploma from Miami Senior High. I teach at an economically disadvantaged school, but somehow these kids make it to school with a smile on their face each and everyday. Our school is located in the center of Miami and it is the oldest high school in Miami. It is a historic site serving over 3,000 students in the community.

More than half of my students are involved in after school activities, such as cheerleading, basketball, bowling, and football.

To add, they are involved in clubs like Best Buddies, Interact, and Honoria. Please consider funding my class.

My Project

I am asking for two Fire HD Tablets and three Amazon Fire 7' Tablets. My students will be able to use technology and these tablets to better accommodate their needs as stated in their Individualized Education Plan. In Reading and English class, they will be able to access novels online and complete assignments using this technology. The students, who all learn differently, will also be able to research current events in order to write informative and argumentative essays on a given topic while using textual evidence to back up their claim. As a preparation for college, my students will be required to complete an online research project.

In English class, they will be able to access online resources to better help them in completing tasks.
