My Students

Our class consists of 30 wonderful students that are eager to learn. This is an Integrated, co-teaching class that includes students with disabilities. We have various learning styles and needs. Our students are polite, happy, and eager to learn. Our location allows us to be close to the richly diverse culture of the New York City while enjoying peaceful views of frolicking deer behind the school yard.

We use ICT teaching models such as stations and parallel teaching in order to maintain small heterogeneous group instruction in a least restrictive environment.

The children especially love learning in stations and being able to move from station to station.

It is our challenge to keep them excited, engaged, and learning. Along with building their reading and writing skills, learning addition with 2 and 3-digit numbers, measuring length, and many other exciting things, they will be learning to self-assess and reflect on their own work in order to understand their learning goals, progress, and how they can achieve their goals. We are building independent learners.

My Project

This project will supply a year of exciting activities.

It will provide enriching hands on activities that will leave children with memorable experiences of second grade.

It has class set of canvas for an acrylic painting lesson. As well as some colors that needed refills.

This will also provide class sets of make your own calendars. We celebrate the New Year by creating their own calendars by using counting and calendar skills. They will have to create each month and illustrate a picture. This supports their math skills as well as social studies concepts.

Each student will get a hard covered book to write their own realistic fiction story. This will culminate our Realistic Fiction Writing unit.

Also included are wooden frames to paint. Children make their own frames with acrylic paint. We use this for another celebration.

There is something for every season. Children will have several beautiful handmade experiences to take home with them.

This project also contains much needed personal white dry erase boards that we use for daily instruction and formative assessment.

Children will be learning while be able to be creative!
