My Students

Our school corporation is a rural district, trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach first grade, in our small rural district.

My first grade students are excited about the world around them.

As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students are world changers.

My Project

I was inspired by Mrs. Scheet's winning Science Everywhere project. I love the idea of sending materials home for one student to conduct at home and then report back to the class. Every student and family would get to choose an activity to complete at home. Reporting and sharing results is a large part of the learning process that is often neglected. I would love to create authentic learning and reporting opportunities. This idea is a perfect fit for the spectacular students and families in my class! This project is a great way to facilitate a love of learning at home and at school!

My goal with this project is to first inspire and support at-home science learning.

Students then can report and share their findings with the entire class and with other students using our Seesaw app.

I would love for my students to use the Bubble kit, 3D doodler pen, the optical illusion kit to create an at-home learning project. The Kitchen Science kit is perfect for exploration with parents and guardians! I would love to see how my students, alongside their families, created science and learning fun!
