My Students

Flexible seating works wonders for students with special learning needs!

I have a wonderful group of 5th and 6th graders who love coming to school and learning.

I see small groups of students throughout the day for math, reading, and writing. These students have special learning needs, and I want to do everything I can to make sure they are as successful as possible.

It can be challenging for my students to focus during school, as our chairs are stiff, and some are breaking. We are a low-income school, and over 40% of our school receives free or reduced lunch. I am a new teacher, so much of my budget money and personal money has gone toward buying basic supplies that my students need everyday, such as pencils, highlighters, and sticky-notes.

My Project

The Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats will increase students' attention, motivation, and work ethic. My students have disabilities, and flexible seating would be beneficial for their learning. When students are given an assignment, this flexible seating option will allow them to focus on the assignment in a comfortable seating position of their choice. The seats have a comfortable cushion and a comfortable back support, which ensures that students are sitting in an upright position with their work in their lap.

Their current chairs are not comfortable, and some are missing screws that keep the seat attached to the chair legs.

I also have a very small classroom, so these seats allow my students the option of flexible seating without being distracting and taking up large amounts of space in my classroom. I teach late elementary-early middle school students, so these comfortable seats provide students with a flexible seating option that fits their size and learning needs.
