Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach young adult students with disabilities enrolled in an employment and livings skills transition program. The color printer and supplies I am requesting will allow me to make their projects come to life. I work with them on developing not only employment skills but purposeful leisure activities.

Photography and art are an avenue that they can all use to express themselves and stave off mental health issues.

Many of them have phones so I would like to encourage photography not only as an art but as a potential employment opportunity. They will learn to develop flyers, brochures and all modes of online and hardcopy marketing for our in-school enterprise. They run their own business to build financial literacy and money skills. The printer will be used for more visually appealing displays for that enterprise. I also teach data entry as an employment skill for my students with autism. The color printer will facilitate the instruction of excel spreadsheets and creation of slide decks. My students are young adults with intellectual disabilities and or autism. The printer and supplies would be an incredible addition to our classroom tech station.
