My Students

These books, Ruby Bridges Goes to School, Freedom Summer, and The Other Side, will create engaging and stimulating lessons that my students will love so much that they will never want to quit reading.

My class is made up of six special needs students, twelve minority students, and everyone in my class is classified as being at a low socioeconomic level.

They live in the inner part of a town that has a population of about 20,000. They are amazingly intelligent, motivated, curious, and adorable. They will be in second grade this year, and I am looping with them up from first grade, so I will be their teacher again this year.

My Project

I have requested six copies each of Ruby Bridges Goes to School, Freedom Summer, and The Other Side. These resources will captivate my students' attention to the details of the struggles that African Americans faced, and how people overcome hardship. These books will teach the children empathy and compassion for others. The children will also broaden their understanding of American History.

These are exemplar texts that will be used to allow my students to look deep into the text for information.

These books will inspire my students to be better people and deepen their understanding of American History.
