This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My special needs students need practice with pre-writing strokes so they can strengthen their fine motor skills. By mastering pre-writing strokes, my students can then begin to work on letter formation and shape formation.

My goal for this project is to give my students the opportunity to learn how to make pre-writing strokes.

They will get practice holding a writing utensil, grasping an eraser and strengthening their ability to focus and stay on task. The benefit of using dry erase boards, is that they offer a very smooth surface which helps the students' hand flow from start to finish. The dry erase boards also offer a blank slate with the swipe of an eraser, which is very beneficial to my students. They struggle with low frustration tolerance, and when they make a mistake, it helps to be able to quickly clear the board so they can start over.

My students are special because they are Autistic and deserve extra support and guidance in the classroom. They are hard-working and often have to work harder than a typical student just to make it through the day in a classroom. With your support, my students will be able to work on strengthening pre-writing skills while also having fun at school!
