Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are autistic, intellectually disabled, speech impaired and/or other health impaired. Each one thrives on structure and routine. Their favorite time of day is "Sign-in & Calendar" when they use the ActivBoard, greet each other, perform calendar tasks, and "show off."

Our school is very supportive and inclusive.

My students enjoy participating in activities such as reading buddies, grade level inclusion​ , and peer-to-peer mentoring. Wherever we go in school, other students call out "hello" to my students and call them by name. They are an important part of our school community.

My Project

My students are learning to complete digital activities on their district-issued iPads or Chrome Books. As you can imagine, the sound from many devices is distracting and many of my students have a sensitivity to sound.

Currently, there are not enough headphones for each student to have their own.

Due to COVID-19, I would prefer they not share headphones. It will also ensure that if we are forced to return to virtual learning, each student will have a pair to take home.

The students chose Valentine's Day party favors. They want to spread the LOVE.
