Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is very different and very active. It is a mathematics classroom that teachers 6th, 7th and 8th grade special needs students. We try and maintain a positive and supportive environment. We are caring, and provide high expectations for all of the children.

My students are special in every way.

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade special needs mathematics. The students have a wide range of disabilities. The school is located in Brooklyn, New York. The children lack the resources to bring all of the necessary supplies and it is very difficult to purchase all of the things that we need for the classroom. Many of the students show up to school without a pencil or even a piece or paper. These supplies will help to teach and also motivate the children to want to learn. We need dry erase markers and the colorful paper will be given to the students for projects.

My Project

The students need the dry erase markers for the mathematics problems. We try and maintain and active classroom, where the children are participating and very active. The paper will be used for projects that help to motivate the students and teach them about real world math. The erasers will be used for positive behavior reinforcement. The pencils will be given to the children. The ink will be used to print activities for the children.

My classroom is desperate for supplies.

These things may seem trivial but they will make a critical difference in the classroom and the daily lives the these special needs students. We hope that we get the donations for the items.
