Special Needs Fine Motor Strengthening through Play Doh Exploration
Help me give my students a fine motor sensory Play Doh station in our classroom. All of my students have special needs, and one of our most important goals is strengthening their fine motor skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We plan on creating a Play Doh center, that will be used to strengthen the fine motor skills for our students through active play and exploration. This station will give my students the opportunity to manipulate Play doh and form shapes, while working on social skills with peers and strengthening their fine motor skills.
My goal is that this center will be fun, and all of my students won’t realize that they’re actually strengthening their fine motor skills, while having fun and playing with peers.
My students are special because we are a self contained Special Ed class. They all have various needs, but across the board they all need support with fine motor skill development. We can achieve this through play, doing activities such as playing with Play Doh.
