My Project

I am a special education teacher working with Middle school students with Autism. My students are amazing young people who face many challenges but who can also make great progress. My goal is to help them become more independent by developing their self-care needs, specifically cooking and food prep.

This year, I hope to introduce them to different cooking techniques that will foster their independence and engage them in everyone's favorite pastime, eating good food!

We will focus on the use of the requested air fryers, blenders, griddles, and other different appliances and how to use them to make delicious, nutritious meals. My plan is to develop their skills as we move through the curriculum of food prep with the requested knives, fridge, and burner. Starting with simple recipes and moving through to more advanced prep. The joy of cooking is for everyone. And I hope to bring both joy and independence to my classroom.
