Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I support a group of 1st-3rd grade bilingual students with disabilities in a comprehensive special education classroom. All are English Language Learners and many are either non-verbal or have limited language skills. These students face the greatest challenges but amaze me every day with their unique personalities and abilities.

While they may learn differently from typically-developing kids, they still love to learn!

Due to their neurodiversity and developmental delays, they need specialized materials to learn and grow, including adaptive writing tools (drawing pencils, dot markers, pencil grips), busy books and shape sorters for those that are not yet writing, materials for making visuals (laminator, laminating sleeves, and velcro), and incentives to motivate and reward them for their work. By donating to our project, you will support the education and independence of some of our most vulnerable but vibrant kids.
